FESTIVUS:
See you all tonight for our annual Christmas party! Activities will get started around 5PM.

The final feat of strength will utilize a tool made famous in 1704 in Russia, the girya! Each team will have five minutes to accumulate as many Russian swings of the girya as possible. The gentlemen on the team will swing the 2.75 pood (97lb) girya and the women will swing the 2 pood (70lb) girya. Remember, we are doing Russian swings so your arms only need to become parallel to the ground...not above your head! As always, scaling options will be available. You will be informed of the point system of this feat right before the activity begins.

Aimee: I think there is a typo in your post. Surely you don't expect me to be able to swing a 70lb kettle bell!!!!! Seriously, I am really scared. I will show up, and I will try my best. But I am afraid that you will all think I am a loser when I can't do it. I guess this is why crossfit is good for the mind as well as the body. I hope I can overcome my fear.

We can always scale but I think you will surprise yourself. Russian swings are a lot different than American swings. We have never done Russian swings in class.

i am starting to get FIRED up. Festivus pre-game in 3 hours! Will I pull 450 tonight or will I pull my back trying. Come and see at Festivus.

What do people think the winning score will be? I am thinking 1622 total. I will be wicked impressed if anyone approaches 2000.

How long will the party go on for tonight? I'm going to skip the workout since I don't feel great and probably won't even be able to get there on time, but I want to try to watch some of it and come hang out later if that's ok.
