40-30-20-10
Box Jump Overs (20-21"/24-25")*
Hand Release Push-ups

*For the box jump overs, you can jump directly over the box or you can first jump on top of the box and before jumping down on the other side; both would count as one rep.

For the hand release push-ups, your chest (between nipple and clavicle) must touch the ground while your hands are off the floor. From this position, you must push your body up from a plank position...your knees MAY NOT be the last part of your body to leave the ground unless a scale is being used.

Mobility Monday @ 5:30 & 6:30:
Stretches for Running. With the warm weather, and Coach Tim's POSE workshops, everyone will be running everywhere. We'll go over some standard stretches for calves, quads, hamstrings and hips that will keep you limber and fleet of foot.

Schedule Reminder:
Today we begin our 7:00AM class along with our regularly scheduled 9:30AM, 4:30PM, 5:30PM & 6:30PM.

Great group this not-so-early group of low profile shoe wearing athletes. Everyone appreciated the nice little 400m sprint cash out as a cardiovascular boost. Solid efforts all around.

Thanks to my fellow low profile wearing peeps for doing tabata situps after Timmy's little 400m cash out!

OK Jason, I haven't watched the episode yet, but I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about Westeros (Oh yeah, I'm super cool!)... All of what I'm answering about is from the book though, so feel free to anyone who watched it to correct me if it was different in the show.

1 In the book it's Ser Rodric Cassel. He's the master at arms of Winterfell. Trains everyone in sword fighting/warring

2 Maester Luwin. Similar to a local priest, but not religiously affiliated. In Old Town, there's a training center for Maesters, and they are sent around to all different areas of Westeros to impart knowledge/wisdom/advice.

3 This is not a question.

4 Again not a question. But I won't disagree.

5 Gotta remember, in the book she's ~13 years old.

6 I'm not sure how well they described the backstory, but Cat was betrothed to Ned's older brother who died in the war against the Targaryans. She gets knocked up by Ned, who then goes off to finish a few more battles. By the time Ned comes back home, Robb is born and Ned's walking home with a bastard.

7 Benjen Stark is Ned's younger brother, one of the top rangers at the wall. I think his title is First Ranger. Valued up on the wall for his experience.

8 Tyrion's an inquisitive dude. Always trying to learn.

9 Sandor Clegane, known as the Hound. He's in service to house Lannister. He's Gregor Clegane's (Mountain that Rides, overall non-good dude) younger brother.

10 Illyn Payne. He's the headsman for the King. Had his tongue cut out years back for laughing at some joke one of the Targaryan kings made. Still does all the head chopping now though.

11 The direwolves grow stupidly fast, and remember, they're normally at least twice the size of regular wolves.

12 Jon's mother is a pretty big mystery, even going forward in the books. Ned never talks about it.

I don't think I gave away any big plot stuff here. Glad you like the show. I'm about 2/3's through my copy of AGOT, but if I get my other one back from a friend, I'd be glad to loan it out to whoever. So good.

2) Which Goonie is wearing gloves when they are walking to the restaurant?

3) How many steps does the map say to take to get to the treasure?

4) When the boys are stopping on their bikes, which two Goonies collide?

5) Where did Mama Fratelli get the chains for Sloth?

6) Once they find the pirate ship, Brand asks Mikey 'How many ships did you say there were?' What is Mikey's answer?

7) What is the correct order of the elaborate system Mikey uses to open their gate?

A- bowling ball, bucket, football, chicken, egg, balloon, sprinkler

Peterson did a very effective job of answering Jason's ?s. My thoughts below. The most interesting scene might have been Cersei sharing her story of losing a child with Cat. As you can guess by now, Cersei is not to be trusted. But if they plan on tying this into some future admissions from the books, it could make that scene even more interesting.

2. Maesters also play the role of doctor. They're one of the only people around with any kind of education, so they are looked to as human Swiss army knives.

3. Sansa makes some mistakes, sure. But she was raised to follow proper etiquette and to betray her betrothed, even against her own family, would be a hard decision to make on the spot. This is the beginning of her world being turned upside-down. And you could argue that she "got hers" with the punishment Cersei made sure was carried out.

4. Careful with the spoilers here. I recommend we stick to discussing what's happened so far in the series to be safe. But I wanted to punch the actor in his thin girl lips the first time he appeared on screen.

5. My response to "How long does it take to learn to make a man happy?" was "With any luck, roughly 30 uninterrupted minutes"

6. It was extremely atypical for a bastard to be integrated into castle life the way Jon Snow was. Usually they were sent elsewhere so the shame of it would not be in everyone's grill on a daily basis. Cat came to love Ned, but this was a big fly in the ointment. And potentially a threat to her lineage if Jon someday made a claim for the throne of Winterfell.

7. Think he's only important in that Jon Snow looked up to him and saw him as a role model.

8. To piss off the edge of the world. Duh. Also, from a plotting mechanics perspective, GRRM needed Tyrion & Jon to share some key scenes.

9. Don't like the way this character is being portrayed. His face barely looks burned, as opposed to the Eckhart-at-the-end-of-Dark-Knight description in the the book. And they removed much of his miserable bastard persona. There's an important expository speech he gives to Sansa coming up that I hope they film and that this actor nails. I have my doubts.

12. It's more important to understanding Jon than it is to the overall plot so far. I had a "Whoa!" moment last night when Robert said definitively that a woman whose name escapes me was Jon's mother. My memory of the books was that there were conversations strongly hinting at her identity, but nothing that definite.

Cline, there's a good website that does a lot of looking into that question about Jon. I'm not going to go into it here, but I have some ideas if you wanna chat next time we see each other at the box.

Jason Lyons said...

is jon snow older than robb?

i have no idea who gregor clegane is peterson...did they mention him somewhere?

Cline said...

They're roughly the same age, but I think Robb is a few months older. Ned left Cat with child before going off to wage war and father Jon.

Gregor Clegane has not been mentioned in the show, though I'm guessing he will be soon. He's the biggest and possibly fiercest warrior knight. And as Peterson indicated, quite an unsavory character.

Sandor Clegane seems almost saintly by comparison.

Peterson said...

I imagine Gregor Clegane as Shaq on a horse. Just imagine having to fight that guy....

Cline said...

Gregor = Large, pissed-off Hagrid in my mind.

And from the Department of Totally Unsurprising News, it took me many a moon to touch my first boob.

I really like what I have seen from Game of Thrones so far. I am usually not into this type of stuff but I am hooked. If it was not for the fact that the books are 700 pages long I might try to read them, more of a time issue than not wanting to read. Still it will have to go a long way to beat the best HBO/Television drama ever: "The Wire".
