I am an Assistant Principal at a local high school. I taught Social Studies before that.

Besides being an awesome Coach (-: my day job consists of working for Johnson and Johnson. I work as a Global Trial Manager for them in their oncology group. I basically manage a clinical trial and I am responsible for it on a global level. I get to talk to people all over the world which is a really cool thing about my job. I LOVE what I do! I also work from home which is an added bonus!
1) People of the world. If you do not use your HIPS in this motion, your power output will be severely blunted. This moevment will hopefully teach you NOT to just pull up with your arms because you will fail if you do. Pay attention to reps that seem easier and duplicate them...hips, shrug, zip up your coat!
2)Besides being a partner in crime with the Queen Bee, I am a geeky research scientist and I specialize in the development of polymeric materials, particularly the additives within and their subsequent mechanical properties.
I coach at and own CFKoP. I also work for CrossFit HQ on the L1 seminar and kids staff.
I promote synergy and am going to be working on a long distance relationship with Charlene.
Lawyer - M&A, capital markets and IP acquisiton and disposition.
Interesting, but as exciting as watching paint dry.
I work for Ikea as a project manager with some global responsibility and as a result have done burpees in some of the smallest hotel rooms that Europe has to offer...
Btw, the travel WODs link is A great resource but a bit long. Does anyone have any favorites? Mine is 100 push ups. Sit ups and squats for time.
I am a Health/Phys Ed Teacher in the Philadelphia School District (which I love) and their track coach. Also working on getting my CF Kids Cert!! :)
I am a stay at home mom but my kids no longer live at home. Therefore, I am a member of the dirty 9:30...
I work at a drug company in the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics department. We test a lot of bodily fluids from the clinical studies to determine how long it circulates in the blood and then where it goes from there (urine, feces, etc).
I also beat Olan when I'm not busy working.
I'm an independent consultant doing drug and medical device development, including toxicology, drug metabolism, project management, scientific writing and FDA interaction. I'm also a very part-time CrossFit assistant coach and full-time servant to a cat who rules the house.
Hey all. Lisa C... I own a tailoring and garment care business out in Wayne and just found out I was voted Best of Main Line again!!!!!
I love what I do... helping people look great cuz that just feels great. I'm the exclusive tailor for Lululemon's Phila (soon to be 5 store) region. Tailor & cleaner for Ferragamo as well as a personal shopper for the store.
This isn't where I thought I'd wind up but sure am glad I landed here.
Jeff- Phill rocks!!
I am the devil (Hedge Fund Manager) and also teach graduate and post graduate classes in risk management and behavioral finance at a bunch of different companies/schools.
Erika:
I am a Regional Mortgage Underwriter (credit analyst) for for GMAC mortgage.
I also am a single parent of two boys (10 and 6)
.. I also have a small zoo at home which consists of 2 dogs, a Macaw, and a frog.
... if I attend classes at night looking beat and acting like a Zombie that is why :)
I am a Clinical Data Scientist for GSK (GlaxoSmithKline - maker of Tums and Aquafresh!); I manage the collection & processing of data as well as setup, launch, maintenance & closeout of databases for clinical trials in Oncology. (whew!) I am a key point of contact for over 300 sites and study coordinators globally. My job sort of mirrors Mel's :)
I also work at Whole Foods (North Wales, not plymouth meeting!) a few nights during the week, where I'm basically paid to talk to people about food, share recipes, and memorize hundreds of produce PLU codes :)
Pooch here - I'm an IT director for an architectural firm during the day, and an IT consultant any other time. Not overly exciting, but I get to play with cool toys every now and then.
Hi, I'm Mark, and I do CrossFit. I am powerless over my desire to do CrossFit.
When I am not doing CrossFit, thinking about the last time I did CrossFit or wishing I could do more CrossFit, (and how to do it better); I am an actuary.
Being an actuary is 95% - 99% less fun than doing CrossFit.

I am an account manager at the Hartford in the group life and disability insurance division. I have a book of business of groups ranging from 500-7,000 employees that I am responsible for managing and growing. I also work from home several days a week, which I why I can occasionally visit the nooner!
During the winter I also work part time as an ice hockey referee. I work NCAA D1 and D3 women's hockey, men's college club and high school hockey. I've also been fortunate enough to be selected to work several world championship tournaments and am hopeful that I will be selected to work the 2014 or 2018 Olympic games. I wish this job would pay my bills, it is a lot more exciting than insurance!
Lisa A....I have been an admin. assitant, resident counselor at a MH/MR group home, but now I am a stay at home Mom who is donating my services and time to both Mission Kids (a child advocacy center right here in Montco, who helps children who are victims of phys.&sexual abuse) and I also donate time to the Greater Norristown Police Athletic league - a great place for some pretty great kids :)
I am a behavior specialist at a special ed school. I work predominantly with middle school and high school aged students on the spectrum. I love the kids I work with. I get bruised regularly but they are hilarious :-).
I am a structural engineer at RPA Engineering and acting manager of our civil/structural/machine design group. I do a lot of consulting engineering services, analysis and design for many of the large industrial companies throughout Pennsylvania, but every once in a while I get shipped off somewhere.
I'm Batman.
I'm funemployed, and LOVING IT (for now). I left my last job of 20 years in December. I did market research analytics for consumer package goods companies. I used to consult with clients on how to improve their sales and share using common market levers such as price, promotion, couponing, advertising, etc. If you put data in front of me, I'm probably going to analyze it. it's a whole lot more fun teaching you guys how to deadlift though.
My full time job is a 7th grade math teacher at Upper Merion Middle School.
During the spring months, I am also the head coach of the high school girl's track team.
Since I can never be too busy, I also am a Realtor with Coldwell Banker in Conshohocken, where Shawn T. is my manager.
I knew I had heard Cline's voice before somewhere.
I am a Biomedical Engineering Technician. In short, I fix medical equipment that ranges from infusion pumps, ventilators, to anesthesia machines. I am based out of my house and that is why I sneak to a nooner when I can.
The most rewarding part of my job is when I volunteer my time and services to a group in Jamaica to offer free pediatric care. A good way to realize just how fortunate we are.
Awesome picture Nick! Cool stories everyone. I’m an electrical engineer, and my company (PJM Interconnection) operates the power grid in 13 states in the mid-Atlantic area. My department studies the changing conditions on the grid to make sure everyone’s lights stay on and there’s not a repeat of the 2003 Northeast Blackout, and also helps integrate new kinds of technology into operation to keep the power system reliable throughout times of high electricity demand and extreme weather events.
I do system test for InfiniBand hardware at Intel (InfiniBand is a computer networking scheme, kind of like Ethernet, but faster and more specialized for high-speed supercomputing). I take the hardware prototypes, try to make them work, and then try to break them. I rarely talk to customers, usually sleep late, and work from home a lot (hello nooners).
Just like Donkey, I am FUNemployeed as well. Recently I quit my job. I was working at my family's business (distribution of fluid seals) where I worked in inventory managment and purchasing. Now, I am focusing on my MBA, helping out at crossfit, and figuring out my next step.
Wow, we have some amazing people at KOP..I'ma newbie to the work world but I'm currently a Solution Quality Analyst at 4R Systems Inc... We are a very small Information Technology company of 18, whom offer Profit Optimizing Inventory Solutions to larger retailers such as Vitamin Shoppe, Family Dollar, Crate & Barrel, A.C.Moore and Burlington Coat Factory (Cost Plus World Market, Performance Bike and Dillards currently in pilot). I am responsible for the quality assurance and root cause analysis of any issues in the solution before it is delivered to the client.
And I'm a single mother to a 6 year old, iguanna and 2 turtles.. :) Dream to be a Herpetologist.. (Look it up before you judge :P)
In addition to lifting heavy weights on what I consider a professional level, I work in sales. My Company, Zuckerman Honickman, Inc. is a 4th generation, family owned, packaging supplier. We supply glass and plastic containers mostly to the food and beverage industry. Most of our large, recognizable customers are beverages that most of us crossfitters probably don't drink (Coca Cola, Snapple, Fuze, Vitamin Water, etc...) But don't worry, we also supply a lot of the plain bottled waters and other unsweetened beverages out there.
This is John King, I work for J&J and try to sell things that you need to make your life better. things like Neutrogena, Listerine etc. Ironically I am happy when you get a cut (Band-Aid), Have a high fever (Tylenol), are suffering from Allergies (Zyrtec), Have Diarrhea (Mylanta, Imodium), not to mention things that make you itch or break out in hives (Benadryl). I also love new babies as Johnson's baby products is a big part of our company, in fact we believe in new babies so much we make another product just to prove it (KY Intimate lubricant) needless to say never a lack of jokes at the sales meetings :) Cheers!
I've spent my last 8 years working for a middle market mezzanine fund. We lend money to and take ownership stakes in medium sized private companies. In a nut shell, my job is to find companies that need money (usually for growth or acquisitions), decide if the opportunity is right for us, and manage the deal until the loan is paid off and hopefully our equity stake has grown in value. It can be very challenging at times but I do enjoy it.
Sam B.... Holy Crap!!! You are the real life Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) from Pretty Woman!!!
I oversee the international import/export as well as national, state and local distribution of products not approved by Federal or State Gov'ts for distribution. In addition I track the proceeds earned from the import/export and distribution and reinvest them back into our corporation. We are also a conduit for providing long term housing for those we oversee conducting the activities we oversee.
I'm a structural/architectural engineer/consultant... We do a mix of new design, structural rehabilitation and architectural preservation. Kind of boring for most people, but I think it's a good time.
Dear Anonymous:
I have to admit, I am a bit rusty on my early ‘90s rom-coms… if your comment was intended as a compliment, I gladly accept. If meant otherwise, consider yourself challenged to a head to head wod of my choice.
I’m associate general counsel and corporate secretary for an NYSE-listed consumer products company. Our products include ribbons and bows, greeting cards, gift tags, kid’s Valentines, Halloween masks, costumes, make-up and novelties, Easter egg dyes and novelties, journals, photo albums and scrapbooks. My practice areas include transactions, contracts, compliance, governance and litigation management. I like what I do, but not quite as much as I like CrossFit!
we have a really interesting, smart bunch of people at our box!
Joe C
I travel a bunch and have a wod u may like. Run 1/2mile treadmill, 30 push ups, 30 sit ups, 30 air-squats 4 rounds. My goal is under 30 minutes. This has really helped my push ups for other wods.
Hope this helps
John king
I am a sales rep for an industrial gas company. I sell bulk supplies of liquid nitrogen, oxygen, argon, helium, and CO2. We sell to large manufacturers and hospitals. In my spare time I pick things up and put them down.
I'm just starting Crossfit. I'm a wellness professional. I manage a fitness center, teach groups, individials, and athletes. I have an unquenchable thirst for human health and fitness knowledge. I'm a fitness dork. I play soccer for West Chester United Open and "Over 30" teams. I like Crossfit because it's a great challenge for me. Otherwise, I love being Laurel's Dad. -BJ
I usually say "My part-time job is tax accounting; my full-time job is having fun." I work for a great company called Global Tax Mgmt and we assist corporate tax departments in pretty much whatever they need. Yep, it's a glamorous life... :)
On the side, I work down at the Linc doing suite attending for Eagles games in the fall. I also just got my bartending certification as well so we'll see where that leads me. All-in-all, it keeps me out of trouble...mostly.
Ellie
I make machines that make things. Our company designs and builds custom automation equipment, fixtures, and tooling. Picture a factory with robots, conveyors and welders all moving a mile a minute, and we might have made that equipment.
We do work for a wide range of industries- military, home construction, aerospace, furniture, etc. We're a family business and I'm proud represent the 3rd generation of ownership.
Who knew?? I was surrounded by such greatness at CFKoP....
When I'm not crossfitting, I am a realtor with KW in Blue Bell, I also bartend a couple of places & I'm partners with a consumer mfg company delivering wellness.
Lauren M
Hi, it's Kim C and I figured I'd chip in...I teach in the Advertising Department at Temple U...Creative Thinking, Digital Design, Media and Society, etc. I am also a graphic designer. Mr. C, also known as John C, is not only my devastatingly good looking husband, but a Police Officer in Haverford Township.
I work in the corporate office of an industrial battery manufacturer that started in Conshy over 100 yrs ago by 2 high school classmates that created a science project of sorts.
I'm a pricing analyst but pretty much spend my time with multiple Excel files open, crunching numbers or data mining and outside of that play price police and do cost/margin work ups.

Hi, all!
As always, a great WOD today, my legs and glutes are shredded! :)
So, Sarah's and my job(s) (we work together). We have a part time job as musicians for our local church, which pays the bills, and makes little old ladies thank us profusely (totally good karma). :)
And, our entrepreneurial weekday job is, I'm the audio director and the co-owner of a video game studio out of Philadelphia, called Play Eternal. We focus on quick to play, highly polished games for digital purchase (iPhones, Android phones, PC download). We're looking to have two mobile games out this year, so when they come out, throw us a dollar and enjoy our cool games! :)
Joe C:
I did this in a hotel and it changed my life...
Tabata treadmill...the catch is that it is on max speed at max incline.
I was literally screaming in rounds 6-8 because I thought I would fall off. When I finished, i jumped to the side, fell off the machine, crawled to waste can and threw up. I laid there for 30 minutes before moving and didn't breath right for 3 days.

@Jason: Didn't Jamie Z try this once and you gave her burpee penalty for every time she touched the rails--and she got thrown from the machine? Am I misremembering? I must be.
wow! very cool to have one of, if not the, most commented days...very interesting
at the 6:30 the number of engineers was around the double digits.
I started out as a civil engineering major in college and then in junior year, decided that I like helping people and wanted to work with kids. So now I'm a high school counselor focusing on college and career counseling (one of the reasons these comments are fascinating). After school I do what you all see me doing: coaching! It's awesome to see everyone's transformations, but even more cool to see your confidence build and expand to other areas of your lives. I love learning and in both jobs, I learn a LOT. One of the things I should learn is to write more blog posts at my blog, Constantly Varied, where I tend to write about Paleo nutrition and CrossFit. oops.
I am a business Operations Manager for a global distributor of Packaging supplies, Paper, & Janitorial supplies. I manage the teams that support our largest customers worldwide. I spend most of my day directing people, strategic planning, analysis and cost optimization.
When I'm not WOD'ing I pay people to shop online. (No joke!)
I'm a usability researcher at a digital marketing agency with a heavy focus on e-commerce clients (Sony, Petsmart, Fisher-Price, Levis, RalphLauren, ...). For our usability studies we invite participants into our lab and give them a budget and then watch them shop on the client's website (and they get to keep whatever they buy). We then analyze the sessions to see where the participants had trouble and make recommendations to the designers to make the site easier to use.
I currently also spent time plotting my return to academia for a cognitive sciences related degree, but that'll be a while.
Tomorrow is my last day at Merck, where I spent the last 11 years working on vaccines - half of that time specifically MMR and chicken pox - My group measured the amount of infectious virus in samples so the engineers would know if the changes they made to the process were good or bad.
Like Stasie and Donkey, I spend a lot of time in excel(and love it). I did have the opportunity to work on Merck's HIV vaccine for about 4-5yrs when it was in development - unfortunately it got killed in Phase II because it did not prevent HIV although it did raise an immune response.
Plan to take a month off to recover from the rat race and look for something new in this area. Meanwhile, June will be the MONTH OF CROSSFIT, which is fitting since I just passed my 2 yr anniversary with crossfit kop.
Ben. Sign me up! Thanks for all the posts, great learning about what everyone does! I'd love to see more!
Hi! I am a civil engineer for an environmental consulting company. I do many things for many clients, but specialize in the nuclear and rail sectors. Scary I know. I do get to see and try awesome things! I am also president of the Gina Spinelli fan club. Contact me for membership information.
I'm a software developer working for a subsidiary of autotrader.com called Homenet. We do inventory management software for car dealers, which basically means that we will go out and get a dealers car info and help them easily advertise on any car site in the world.
one of the best blogs ever....
I will give a $100 to the charity of choice for the first person person that completes this sentence...Byrnsey's does ________ for a living.
And I will give another $100 if I do NOT guess the winners occupation....
Byrnsey's does insurance work for a living.
Brynsey: DAMMIT! I know the answer! I just asked you the other day!
Hello Everybody. I am a full time Registered Nurse in the trauma surgical ICU at HUP. I take care of patients post surgical, receive fly-in traumas/surgical evals, and post trauma bay. My job is different each and everyday and i love it. I work 12+ hour shifts, cuz nurses never actually leave on time. So when you see me crossfitting its on my day off. I also graduated from Penn in august 2011 with a masters in nursing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and have just begun job searching again.
My main reason for crossfitting is to promote heatlh and keep my body in the best physical shape I can. I see everyday how poor life styles, obesity, unhealthy living has a devasting impact on the human body.
I am a clinical psychologist...I used to work at the VA doing research in PTSD and sleep with returning Veterans. Now I am a stay at home Mommy and loving it. I'll eventually go back to work, as Keith would shoot me if I wasted all those years of school by staying home! :)
JT you are the winner!!! Need your charity!!!
I am a consultant that helps companies save money on all the stuff they buy. I co-authored a book about what I do, you can get it here (while supplies last!):
www.strategicsourcingbook.com
Hi everyone! KT here. Sorry I'm late! I was on a party vacation for my friend's wedding this past week and just made my way back to the blog!
As for my job - I'm a manager in the Tax Accounting department at a company in Berwyn (TE Connectivity). Basically, I just make sure the International taxes are right on the quarterly and annual financial statements. One cool thing about my job is that I get to train our worldwide controllers and sometimes I get to travel!
I run a software product management team for a subsidiary of eBay called GSI Commerce. Along with other products that my team members "own", I am responsible for the mobile solution. Located in KoP by the mall, GSI is a a full-service eCommerce vendor that support large retailers like Dick's Sporting Goods, Ralph Lauren, Timberland, Toys R Us among many others.
@Charles, Ben (and anyone else)- we are building out some pretty cool teams here, email me at waxmanj AT gsicommerce.com if you want to chat. Always looking for great people to work with...
Oh, and in my spare time I THOUGHT I was Batman, but I was wrong since that's Cline... so I guess I am just the WAXman (har, har, har).
Aimee - Most of the time we use a 3rd party recruiter so we don't actually get to pick the participants, but if that ever changes I'll certainly let you know!
My vote is for JT aka Jerry as the best job! If you have done so please go back and re-read!!!
Byrnsey's right, JT wins for both guessing AND job description...fantastic wording
hahaha... Thanks Byrnsey and P...
Hey Byrnsey my charity of choice would be our Survivor Benefit Fund which goes towards the families of agents that have been killed in the line of duty.
Our website is www.deamemorial.org
But email me at gwturner21@gmail.com first, so I can give you a couple options and needed info...
Thanks again. You rock, my fellow Master's dude!!!
Jerry
It will be my pleasure! Even though I knew what you did for a living I am doubling my donation anyway for A. Creativity in job description B. Being a Master and C. Being able to lift heavy shit
Byrnsey
Wow...we have amazing people! I recently resigned from the job (unfortunately), I worked as a deaf interpreter for the Abington Memorial Hospital. Why do deaf clients/patients need deaf interpreter, not only hearing interpreter? Because their sign languages are vary- ASL, PSE, English, home signs, gestures, foreigns and deaf interpreters are capable of understand them and communicate with clients while hearing interpreters are having hard time (not always the case). Plus PA law required deaf patients to have a team of deaf/hearing interpreters (again not always the case!). I have learned RSL and LSB (Russian Sign Language and Brazilian Sign Language- fun!). I recently acquired CCNA so will see what will happen... Oh yea, on the side, I troubleshoot friends' PC/softwares/VP (videophone for deaf)

I'm way behind on this since I've been mia all week but I was in medical device sales for many years and lost my job last Aug which was a blessing in disguise. I started working towards my masters in social work at temple and i will graduate with a specialization in health/mental health, veteran care/brain injury AND sports psychology. In the mean time I work a few hours a week as a job coach for adults with disabilities helping them gain employment in the community. I'm always open for a more steady job though guys!
