Help me out... what does 1 pood/1/2pood mean?

congratulations to steph, the baddest bitch i know, the newest member of the 300lb deadlift club, and a whole lotta awesome. w00t! i knew you were gonna rock it, girl!

pood is a Russian measurement. 1 pood = about 36 pounds, so 1 pood kb is 35#, 1.5 pood = 55#. Standard kb weights basically, but that's how mainsite CrossFit writes those kb weights.

Congrats Steph...or should I call you bad ass bitch?

Anyone been to an affiliate in Austin, TX? Can you recommend a good one to try? Thanks.

Steph, amazing job, the pics look great! Looks like you'll be hitting up strong-woman comps all around now!

Kristen S., CrossFit Central is probably the most famous box in Austin, although there are over a dozen CF affiliates in the city. Address is: 6205-A Burnet Rd.
Austin, TX 78757
If you need any recommendations on where to eat/go, talk to Ditty since her family lives there.

I would never have had the confidence in myself to enter the contest at all if it wasn't for the support of this community, The excellent coaching we recieve at the box, and crossfit in general. It was fun to exhibit my strength, (which is literally strength). However I'm a crossfit chick through and through. I don't JUST want to be strong. I want to be as fully functional as this body of mine will allow! THANKS to all of you who are a part of my journey. I actually have a trophy...who'd thought that would happen the first time at 30 years old!!

I hope this posts but I know that people sometimes post links that get cut off. On Yahoo, there is currently an article about "Fitness Myths to Avoid". This is the URL:

http://shine.yahoo.com/event/
loveyourbody/5-fitness-myths-
you-need-to-forget-2176725/

They actually say in this article that if you walk a mile and run a mile, you will burn the same number of calories and that, "it has been scientifically proven that the length of your workout is more important that how hard you work out." There are over 400 comments telling her how retarded she is. I am amazed that something like this can get published when ALL of exercise phsysiology disagrees, not just CF

Congrats Steph! I am so proud of you! And it's awesome to see DT represent as well!

So sad I'm missing these awesome WOD's! I will have to make up for it double time when I get back! Someone def has to start a Crossfit out here in East Hampton.

Did run yesterday with my lil sis and threw in some squats, pushups, butterfly sit ups, pistols, and walking lunges when ever we had to take a stop in the run.
