Congratulations Regi!
Hometown: King of Prussia, PA
Current Location: Wayne, PA
Age: 25
Occupation: Today I’m an e-commerce fraud analyst; next week I’ll be an insurance claims specialist
College: Bryant University in Smithfield, RI to play softball... I mean to get a Business/Marketing degree.
How long have you been a CrossFitter? Just under 2 years.
Did you ever play sports? I LOVE SPORTS! When I was a kid I played softball, basketball, volleyball and did gymnastics. I tried track, but quit after 1 week because I was bored of running in circles. I played DI college softball and had a short stint with the LFL’s Philadelphia Passion. Currently I still play softball, volleyball, football, and deck-hockey.
Got some cool (or uncool) hobbies you'd like to share? Arts & crafts are my favorite! I love watching the ID channel. (maybe I shouldn’t be sharing that) Baking- and then eating- is fun! Napping is a specialty of mine. I love dancing at clubs! ...I really just try to have fun all the time!
What is your biggest achievement at CrossFit? Finishing 5th at the King & Queen was pretty awesome and definitely a huge achievement. Who would have thought that could EVER happen!?
What do you feel that you still need to work on? EVERYTHING! Technique, form, mobility, skill, strength… you name it, I need get better at it. There's always room for improvement... right?
Goals for the rest of this year? Well since this year is almost over, I will set a goal for next year. Sometimes I wonder, if I gave more than my normal 80% what could I do… so I guess my goal would be to up my working percentage. Maybe to 85-90% and see where that takes me!?
How about your favorite food/snacks? This is hard, because I LOVE food! I can’t pick just one… but I can pick one category. DESSERT! Cannoli’s, ice cream, tartufo (try it, it’ll change your world), s’mores, fudge, warm cookies with ice cream on top, anything with peanut butter… the list goes on forever!
What is the craziest workout outside of CF you have ever done? Any workout led by my college coach. Her spin class, her gruesome 6AM’s, 3-a-days, timed miles, 5 mile runs, swimming!! I can’t swim- I play land sports for a reason…. She LOVED health & fitness- at the time, I did not!
What's your favorite WOD? I cannot answer this question because I think I enjoyably, dislike them all equally. (I hope that make sense)
What’s your least favorite WOD? Please see above question about my favorite WOD.
Favorite lift/movement? ALL Squats, Snatches, Handstand push-ups, Box-jumps… aka the stuff I’m good at.
Least favorite lift/movement? Rowing, Cleans, Deadlifts, Wall-balls… aka the stuff I stink at.
What skill have you been working on in 2014 the most? I haven’t really been working on any skill in particular… just overall becoming better, stronger, faster, and more confident.
What’s your favorite piece of workout "gear"? Obviously my McDonald’s wrist wraps- complete with fries, shakes, and burgers.
What you say is your biggest improvement since starting CF? My whole outlook on exercise/fitness has definitely improved since starting crossfit. Fortunately, I was always a pretty good athlete but never took training seriously. I lived for the games! Practicing/training was just something I had to do to get to those games. Crossfit has definitely helped me realize that the training is important and will help you achieve success.
Who is your favorite coach? NONE- because I love them all!! I’m pretty sure I have had every KOP coach at least once and I would have nothing but good things to say about each of them. I may be slightly partial to the coaches of the 4:30 class (Aimee, Jason, Giuls… previously Paul & Steph) but that’s just because the 4:30 is AWESOME! 80% all day, every day. Thanks so much to all the coaches for respecting my 80% lifestyle, but still pushing me to get better all the time!
PR's to mention? Goals Reached? Nutrition highlights? Crossfit for me isn’t so much about setting goals, I'm already impressed with how far I’ve come. It’s more about getting in a good workout and if I happen to achieve some great feat of strength in the process it’s an added bonus! With that mind-set, pretty much everything I have done at CFKOP has been a PR or a goal reached. Here are some of my faves that I never thought would or could happen in my life… Back-squat 215; Jerk 155; OH-squat 165. Placing at King & Queen was quite a shocker and felt pretty awesome too!
Now about nutrition… since I just explained above that I LOVE food, good nutrition really isn’t my strong suite. But hey, I haven’t gotten any heavier while doing crossfit and still eat like a growing boy, so that’s good enough for me!
**Thanks to all the coaches for the nomination! I love everyone here at KOP and enjoy coming to the box every day!
