  2. I'm a few days late posting this but... Thank you KOP for hosting an awesome Oly course. I was first impressed by your facility but I was most impressed by your members. They were welcoming and really great athletes.
I took a lot of video on the second day and will be posting it on friday to a private youtube account. If you want the link just email me at merissullivan@gmail.com
I hope I get to visit you guys again! Keep kicking ass

  4. I just have to comment and say that I did Karen out here a few weeks ago and they made women shoot to 10ft for RX! I did not think that was fair. Especially since I am height challenged! Apparantly, 10ft is the women's standard in TX.. grr! Shooting to 10ft sure made this wod even worse than it already is!

    Just wanted to share!

Have fun with this one today, guys!

  5. 10' should be Rx for women...it is at the Games. There is no reason for the men to be weight and height scaled...there is no other movement in CF that does that.

  6. Well that spicey Melinda. Have fun with that. :-)

  7. Jason, if it should be RX, then why isn't it for today??!! haha

  8. everything's bigger in Texas...including their wallball heights

  9. The reason that it is not is because when we started doing this, we saw some videos that had 10 and some that had 8. We went with 8 and have kept it consistent so people can compare times. I continually challenge women to try 9 and 10 feet...especially if they are interested in competition. It surely sucks if you are a shorter woman....however, a smaller man like Speal will have an equally different time at this and more so when they expect him to front squat 225, 21 times. Coach once asked me if I were in the woods and a tree fell on me, if it would care if I were strong enough to move it...remember we do this to get better OUTSIDE of the gym so always push your comfort zones because nature often will.

  11. I stink at wallballs but I never shoot to anything other than 9' for any WOD and challenge every woman in the box to do the same, or hell, go for 10'. Now that I know the games standard is 10' that's what I'll be shooting for, and I'm all of 5'4".

Come on ladies, who's going all-in with me?

  12. What if they aim for the 10' mark, but are standing on boxes?

  13. Donkey, if I could "like" your comment on here, I would! My time for "Karen" at the 10ft mark was
11:45 I believe. Now you have a time to shoot for! Let me know how it goes!!

  14. . . . . . take the WODS as they come, the coaches know best . . . . I could give a crap about time (and my Karen time shows it), AMRAP or weight. . . . I'm happiest when I've left it all on the floor, and am nothing more than a sweaty, quivering mess.

  17. We all know that Rx is using the recommended weight AND getting the ball OVER the mark AND going below parallel on EVERY rep right?

I want to be there for this one next time.

    :)

I went off what you guys gave yourselves, whether it was an Rx, DC (damn close) or scaled weight. Saw pretty much everyone improve their times and some people like Lindsey improved time AND went up in weight.

We also had some good discussions about diet and working out. Summary: Calories DON'T matter. Protein and fat are GOOD. Grains and sugar are NOT. It's almost impossible to get big AND stay lean; focus on ONE goal and try not to have your cake and eat it too. (unless it's a paleo version) Get strong. And look both ways before crossing.

For more about diet and health, hit up our health coach, Laura Pappas. She is running a supplement seminar and a Mass Gain seminar in the next months.

  19. For the record I put DC on the board next to my name not RX. My time was longer this time than last time I did Karen but my ball height was better and my squat depth too. Not to say it was perfect, always room for improvement :-)
