It's time again ladies and gentlemen for the Adventures of T & P...

They are back, and this time better than before. How can they top pulling the car? Do you think they will make you swim? You will have to wait and see. WOD's this weekend will be held "down by the river", please park at Frosty Falls or the lot in the back by the boat house. Since we are hosting a CrossFit Level 1 certification CrossFit KoP will be off limits this weekend.

Weekend Schedule:

Saturday 10:00AM (down by the river)
Sunday 10:00AM (down by the river)

  2. I heard it's great for your skin, but it does make you smell a little funky. Just don't borrow a friend's mattress. Oh, and don't tell too many people, cause the river could get too crowded for your taste...

  13. Hi!! I look forward to the weekend wods and I noticed over past few months particularly the past 3 weeks have been changing last minute. The schedule has been disorganized and inconsistent and makes it hard to be a committed client when the workouts change frequently. Is this going to continue or should I expect a more normal schedule in the fall?

    ReplyDelete
  14. To the person who doesn't want a name: since I've been a client for a while now I will tell you the schedule has not changed and recently classes have been added. If you are confused with times it's always stated on the blog for you to look up (they have an easy search tool u can use as well). The last month there have been days with different (not as many classes) this has been due to holidays (every gym even globos change their hours), and the crossfit games (happens once a year). I think the coaching staff has done a great job trying to provide and keep the normal hours as much as possible during this time. Heck if they didn't care there wouldn't be T&P adventures this weekend - it would just say box closed. Maybe I'm missing something that you see but I wouldn't worry about varied hours come fall. Like I said before make sure you utilize the blog and search tool as the hours are posted so you can be organized.

  15. Hi everyone:

We kindly ask if anyone has a problem with something, please come and talk to us or at least post your name so we can come and talk to you.

I wanted to point out that our blog is mostly used to foster communication between members. We do post on the blog when the schedule will be changed and we do our best to do so in a timely manner. We ask that you look at our SCHEDULE section of our website for the most accurate scheduling information. If everyone does not know, our website is www.crossfitkop.com. There is also a link on the right hand side of the blog.

This weekend we are having a certification at our gym but as pointed out in an earlier post, we are still having classes which is something that most boxes do NOT do. In doing so, we eliminated one class. To address anonymous, this will again happen on September 18-19 so you can plan accordingly.

Last weekend was the CrossFit Games in LA and 10 members of our gym were there so we needed to once again modify classes, not close the gym. This will happen again next July and every July hereafter.

The weekend before that was our first annual King and Queen of Prussia Competition which was open to all members of the gym and is something that EVERY member could have competed in had they wanted. In theory, you could have come for the first WOD and left thereby getting your workout in. I think that this even was well received by the gym and as a result, we will be having it every year...likely in July.

If you are disappointed, I am sorry but we try to accomodate our clients as much as we can by offering some type of class when most other gyms would be closed. This information is most up to date on our website under schedule and pricing. Due to how our website is designed, we can only alter the schedule one week in advance. If anyone has any further questions, you know who I am and where to find me.

PS, WODDING is the dumbest word in the english lexicon. I will not use it...EVER!

  16. Ladies and Gentlemen we have another Troll- Incase you aren't familiar with the term from Wikipedia, read below.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2] In addition to the offending poster, the noun “troll” can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in that was an excellent troll you posted. While the term troll and its associated action, trolling, are primarily associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels highly subjective, with 'trolling' being used to describe many intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context.

  17. I have to agree the "anonymous" about the schedule changing.

100+ a month membership price tag should cater to the clients needs. We join your gym understanding times and schedules, knowing they fit our needs before joining. When times change for special events on weekends, it either screws up any plans I may have, or I just can't make a class at all. It is frustrating because to some of us 100+ a month is not cheap by any means for fitness. I know you are going to say you cater to clients and that we should not post anonymous, but to honest I have brought up these schedule situations to you before and I did not get a favorable response. Put your self aside and look at from are point of view. We are the ones putting up the money every month, and I feel as though our say as a client far out weighs what you the coach thinks is an appropriate class time.

Kerbear and Jason, think of “anonymous” as a suggestion box. If you don’t want a suggestion box then show us by taking down the option to post anonymously.

@Kerbear- We understand how to read a schedule. Heck T&P adventures are fine but they should follow the standard schedule. "so you can be organized." Really, kerbear?? Some of us have Jobs and family, we don’t have time to BS around the gym for hours, and just change our schedule to meet the times that KOP caters themselves to. Krebear, I have been a member far longer than you and I have seen this happen many more times.

@Jason- what if I am just a basic member and don’t want to compete in anything? I joined to get my hour in and get back to my life. I don’t care to party afterwards I don’t care to compete against anyone. I believe if clients want a competition it should happen at a time that does not disrupt the daily schedule of KOP. Those that love to compete will gladly come at time other than the regular times. I guess I also don’t understand how events like a certification can take priority over the gym its class time and its clients. We pay $$ for this? It seems to me we should get pro-rated if an event changes the regular class times and we can’t make the new time. Don't get me wrong I see you still are holding classes, but they are not at times that were convenient to me when I joined.

I'm sorry but I find you and a few other staff very approachable for tips and perfecting movements but in no way have I found the staff approachable about client satisfaction issues. Quit defending yourself and start saying what can I do to make your KOP experience better.

And WOW! Aimee? I am really disappointed in you. I actually held you to a different standard, but I guess you really don't care either about how some of your clients may feel and about how some of them may feel uncomfortable about approaching the coaches with such issues. Remember if you have an anonymous selection you better be prepared for "suggestion box" type posts.

  18. I felt I was just asking a valid question. I did not mean for it to get blown out of proportion. The negative responses are why we post anonymously. Other businesses would address this in a professional manner and attempt to fix the situation and make their client feel like a valued customer. I do not feel my opinion matters now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well put Anonymous. In the end it all boils down to those responses from kerbear, Jason and Aimee. Its a shame really, I felt your question was valid too, but then you get such unprofessional and immediately defensive responses like that. Jason you actually made an attempt to address the situation but then your business partner brought the situation to a new low.

I think I took my long post a bit to far, but honestly I felt I had to defend the first anonymous post because here that individual is paying for a service and put their opinion in and the got crapped on for it. Crapped on not only by a member, but by the owner(s)! It's pathetic! And really showed how little the basic clients opinion is valued at KOP. Do you still wonder why some people post anonymously??????
I bet if I could do a 100 muscle ups in a row my opinion would suddenly matter. I think Aimee and Jason had a golden opportunity there to show how much they care and want to help make the situation better. But what did we see "Troll"? Really? Screw you guys I'm taking my $1800 a year else where.

  20. Wow, lots of emotions today! I'm sorry I'm so late to the discussion.

First off, if anyone wants a 9am class on Sunday, I would be happy to lead an outdoor WOD. I'm busy Saturday though so can not offer one that day. Please let me know if you are interested.

About the emotions shared today - I understand the frustration about moving class times, and I see how it could make it very difficult to schedule weekend plans. One suggestion is perhaps we can post a monthly schedule, like we did for May, instead of just one week at a time. Summertime is difficult due to vacations, weekends at the shore, weddings, competitions, etc, so it is inevitable that there will be some interruption to the normal schedule, but you are right that we should do our best to communicate these changes as early as possible.

That being said, I also want to commend Aimee and Jason for working hard to keep the gym open when other gyms would just close their doors. I know first hand that most CrossFit gyms close during holiday weekends and Level 1 certifications. I think it's great that T&P have worked hard to organize fun, unique outdoor WODs when the box is occupied. And they also volunteered to stay home from the Games so they could run the gym while the rest of the coaching staff was in LA. Again, many boxes just closed their doors for the weekend.

Please continue to raise suggestions as to how we can improve CFKOP. Making an suggestion box is a good idea... maybe that's a good place to start. And always feel free to use me as a sounding board - I'm happy to pass your ideas and suggestions on to the rest of the coaching staff. We can't promise to meet 100% of your requests, but you deserve to know we are at least listening to you and considering your suggestions.

OK, now let's put our emotions aside and get back to the fun stuff... like FRAN this afternoon!

    3-2-1...GO!

  21. I guess when I read through everything here, I just wanted to post quick thoughts that seem obvious to me.

I've only been going to CrossfitKoP for a couple months, but I've known Aimee for about two years and I was eager to come and join the community here because of how much detail she puts into her business.

I think we should all remember that when Aimee and Jason pay their affiliate fee, they pay it because they want to be part of the extended CrossFit Community (www.crossfit.com) and keep up with workout trends AND be able to measure their progress.

In order to measure direct training progress, CrossFit hosts the Crossfit Games, which set a bar for all affiliates to strive for greater fitness in their own lives. But for the box owners, this is a new level of fitness that they pass on to us. I like to think of it as updating your operating system on your computer. You gotta be on the up and up. Knowing that KoP sent athletes to compete at the Games this year, we as members can be confident that we have coaches who are doing a great job passing on the best fitness training and techniques to us! (i.e. we are getting fantastic value on our dollar bills yo)

A second measure of excellent contribution to the Crossfit Community: Do they host Certifications? If they do, that means you are at a box that is providing excellent training and upholding a HIGH standard for each athlete. Don't forget, if you come to the gym, even casually, you are considered an athlete. It's why we do Crossfit. We compete each day ... 3, 2, 1 Go! is the competition you do every day you come against yourself or the people in your class (your choice).

That being said, when holidays and Crossfit related events force schedule changes, we need to recognize a few things.
    1) You come to a Crossfit gym that is active in the community. We do Crossfit activities that require our owners to change schedules. It makes us all better in the end.
    2) Crossfit is the branding of SMALL business gyms. Want regularity (like fiber) in your workout diet that will never change, go to LA Fitness. They have hours of operation. By being a small business, Aimee and Jason work very hard to accomidate more than the majority of their clients AND keep a tight-knit community that we enjoy coming to each day.

Peeps got fired up, but I just wanted to remind everyone about the idea of Crossfit, and that we are lucky to have owners who are dedicated to the mission statement of Crossfit by making each of us better.

Now, let's think of unicorns crapping rainbows before "Fran". Right?

  22. Wow, good for you Nikki, that was a good post. You obviously were listing to those concerns. A suggestion box is a great idea, just consider that some people may still want to be anonymous and may not like being seen putting suggestions and concerns into the box at the box. Maybe a box in the bathrooms?

As far as the schedule changes and time changes go. KOP should not compare themselves to other boxes that close there doors. KOP is it's own business and if you have100+ clients I don't see how it is valid to close doors or change times because of events coaches may want to attend.

I get to my job and answer the phone promptly at 8am because my clients know I will be there at 8am. And if for some reason I am not there to service my clients I do whatever it takes to please them and accommodate them. If I plan a vacation a co-worker fills in at the same times because that is the service we provide to our clients.

I agree, I am disappointed in Aimee’s Post, I am sure it was in the heat of the moment, but as one businessmen that serves clients to another, that was un called for and I feel bad for the anonymous it was directed toward.

All in all, good for you Nikki I think you approached that well, its good to know that you are there to listen.

  23. Again, I am sorry that you feel that way. Aimee and I try extremely hard to create an excellent atmosphere at the gym and that means occasionally altering the class schedule. To date, we have cancelled (including national holidays) less than 4% of all classes offered this year. Having certifications and hosting special events is part of what makes CF KoP what it is. They will continue into the future and at times, schedules may need to be altered. The only thing I can say is that we will try to do a better job in making the entire community aware as soon as any class times are changed. I thought blog postings and handouts at the gym for certain months would accomplish this but apparently they are not as effective as we thought.

Also, I would refute that anyone has ever come to me with an issue involving class scheduling other than to request the addition of new classes which we have done (at their request) most recently with a Tuesday 4:30 and the Monday and Thursday strength classes.

Please understand that saying that a public forum on the internet is a suggestion box is the equivalent to us putting one in the middle of the Times Square in NYC. You never know what is real and what is not...hence Aimee's comment filled with pregnancy hormones. Maybe one placed inside the walls of the gym is a fantastic idea.

I am sad that you feel that your opinions would matter more if you can do muscle-ups, if that were the case, my opinions would not matter either. If you feel that way you are truly not getting the KoP experience as nothing could be further from the truth. Again, I am sorry that you are unhappy and if you would like a refund for your membership, please let us know and we would be glad to comply.

  24. Anonymous=passive aggressive. You pull back form some very pointed remarks about confusion around schedule and occasions where there are fewer classes into a retreat mode of "hey, I'm just offering suggestions" and then take us into a self righteous rant about how great you do with your clients, all behind the cover of darkness.

Comfortable spot huh? Put a helmet on and join the world of direct, civil conversations. If you are not comfortable with those kind of conversations, don't pick an inflammatory venue, and you know that was your intention, to express your opinion.

  25. I feel a need to chime in here. As a long time member of Crossfit KOP, I go back to the days that it was in Atlas, I have seen the rapid growth it has gone through. Aimee and Jason have created a fabulous community. I can only imagine the gigantic sacrifices they have made to make Crossfit KOP what it is today. They do an amazing job at working with everyone no matter their level. The number of classes offered has grown as the community has grown. When there has been a schedule change it is for a good reason and alternatives classes are offered.

Anonymous, I hope that you talk to Jason or Aimee about your concerns rather than post them on the blog. I also hope that you really are a member of the Crossfit KOP community, not just someone who wants to come on the blog and start controversy.

I hope that in the future people will take their concerns to Aimee and Jason and not post them on a blog. The blog is supposed to be a place to build the community.
